Advocacy Alert - Help Secure Funding for Cyanobacteria Mitigation

Hello Neighbors and Friends of Crystal Lake!

Just a quick note/request today...  As everyone on this distribution list knows, cyanobacteria is something that can not only ruin a summer but also be harmful to humans and pets.  The best thing we can possibly do is stay ahead of it... because the remediation is not much better than the outbreak itself!  As many of us have discussed in the past, we need some help and we need some funds!  The bill below is a step in that direction.

Where the bill is in the process is very interesting.  This bill started in the State senate and has now "crossed over" to the house.  The Resource, Recreation, and Development committee of the House will now discuss the bill and make a recommendation.  This is where all of us come in...  Please consider reaching out to members of this committee (see the 5 easy steps below) and ask them to support SB598!

Representative Fracht - I have CC'd you on this as an FYI.  I know you are a lake advocate and we appreciate your support!

Thanks everyone for the efforts!

Talk Soon,

Dan

Advocacy Alert!

Help Secure Funding for Cyanobacteria Mitigation

Please share this widely with your friends and neighbors.

Below is an important update from our partners at NH LAKES about

SB 598 which recently passed the Senate and is now crossing over to the House of Representatives for a hearing on Wednesday, March 25Please read below about how you can help stand up for New Hampshire's lakes.

The bill below is aimed at supporting funding to fight cyanobacteria:

SB 598, establishing the cyanobacteria mitigation loan and grant fund task force

What this bill does: SB 598 creates a task force to develop long-term, sustainable funding for New Hampshire’s Cyanobacteria Mitigation Loan and Grant Fund, bringing together state leaders and stakeholders to recommend practical solutions.

Why it matters: Cyanobacteria blooms are increasing across New Hampshire, threatening public health, drinking water, recreation, and local economies. The existing mitigation fund has already supported communities in implementing projects to address cyanobacteria blooms—but is now nearly depleted as demand grows.

There is no single solution to funding cyanobacteria mitigation at the scale needed statewide. SB 598 is a critical step toward developing stable, long-term funding solutions that reflect the shared responsibility of everyone who benefits from clean, healthy lakes and rivers.
