Boat Launch Update - 4/16/26
Thu, Apr 16, 1:20 PM (3 days ago)
The boat launch will be closed beginning on Monday (4/20).
Fish and Game (F&G) informed me today that the contract was signed yesterday and it will now be sent to the contractor. They are planning for a site meeting with the contractor on Monday (4/20) at which time the area will be "closed". I don't know if that means they will be putting up physical barriers, signs, or other indicators at that time... but you should not plan to launch a boat after Sunday night.
The contract requires the project to be complete by Friday (6/12). They could potentially finish earlier, but the contractor has until 6/12 to complete the work. Please note, a few people have told me they have "heard" that the contractor has to have the project done by Memorial Day. I'm not sure of the source of this "information", but I am being told by F&G that the contractor has until 6/12. If I hear of any official changes to timelines during the project, I will let you know. For your planning purposes, I would be using the 6/12 completion date.
So where does that leave us? Well probably 10 - 12 boats have launched at this point. None of them have been "standard" launches but instead have required some extra effort with maybe a few scratches with a broken tail light on trailers here and there. Pontoon boats, while challenging, have been easier than speed boats which are near impossible. The Dam people did put in another board this morning and the lake continues to rise slowly. We've got a little bit of rain coming in today with a somewhat healthier dose forecasted for Sunday. I have a call into the Dam Bureau and I am going to ask them to please put in another couple of boards on Friday. I can't promise this is going to happen.
Let me know if there are any questions, comments, or anyone picks up any other information from credible sources. That's it for now... Good Luck!
