Boat Launch Update - 4/13
Mon, Apr 13, 5:34 PM (6 days ago)
Hi Everyone,
As of last count, four party barges tried to launch over the last three days with mixed levels of success. The first one put-in successfully on Saturday, but I don't have any further info as to how difficult that was. One went in on Sunday (it was kind of rough according to the owner) and there was one aborted mission. Finally a third party barge was successfully launched today, but that too was a bit rough. I guess the takeaway message is that it is "possible" depending on how much risk you want to take with your boat and your trailer. If you do decide to try it sooner rather than later, please launch straight down the ramp. I say this for two reasons: 1) the folks that have been successful have followed that path and 2) we do not want to be ripping up the shoreline around the ramp as this can be detrimental to the lake.
OK, so next steps... The contract goes to the Governor's Council on Wednesday (4/15) for signature. Fish and Game will then call the contractor to let them know that everything is a "go". Fish and Game will also notify me. I hope to also get word at that time as to exactly what day the project will be starting. I have let everyone at Fish and Game know we would like to have one more crack at launching boats next weekend (4/18 & 4/19). If the contractor could possibly hold the start until Monday (4/20) that would be preferred. I do not know if this will happen or not. We will continue to try and make this happen thru various channels.
The next update should be on Wednesday or Thursday.
Talk Soon,
Dan
