Lake News - August
Greetings Crystal Lake Neighbors,
Just a quick email follow-up on our Crystal Lake Improvement Association (CLIA) Annual Meeting which was held on August 3rd. First off, thank you to all who attended. So good to see so many people... and so good to see many first-timers! The meeting was somewhat unique for a number of reasons including:
* After 35+ years with the CLIA and countless years as our President, Glyn Green will be stepping away and getting a chance to catch his breath. He has certainly earned it. Thank you Glyn! Also stepping away is our Secretary, Tina Stearns. Thank you for all of your work Tina!
* A new Board of Directors was elected to a two year term. This includes: Dan Regan - President, Bill Griffin - Vice President, Shirley Green - Treasurer, and Sue Crate - Secretary. Congratulations and welcome to the new board.
Our priorities in the short-term include coming up to speed, a number of administrative items, and lining up additional volunteers for various positions. We also have on our radar screen continued efforts around water quality, working with the Town and the State, as well as the Watershed Management Project. We will keep everyone posted as things develop. We've got some fun new stuff in mind!
Late Breaking News... By a strange coincidence of events, on Wednesday I had the chance to ride a chairlift down Mt. Sunapee with the Fish and Game person overseeing the repair of our boat launch! The good news is that they are not just planning to fill in the hole, but do a complete repair that will correct the problem for years to come. The bad news is, the work is not likely to start before spring. Please do not attempt to fix the problem yourself, or as a small group, as doing so could slow the F&G efforts, end up costing money, and could result in significant fines.
In closing, I am excited to assume the role of President, work with what I believe will be a very strong Board, a great and ever expanding group of volunteers, and all of the members of the association. I look forward to growing this organization to meet our goals of one beautiful clean lake that will be available for the enjoyment of generations to come. Stay-tuned for much more to come...
See you on the lake!
Dan
