Boat Launch Update 4/9/26

Thu, Apr 9, 8:12 PM (10 days ago)

Hi Everyone,

Sorry to flood your in-box with so many emails, but I know many people are trying to make plans around the lake levels and boat launch construction.

As of this afternoon the water at the ramp is just up to the 7th concrete slab, counting up from the water.  The water over the first slab is 12" deep.  If you can envision backing a boat trailer down the ramp, when you get to the verybottom of the ramp, the wheels of your trailer would be in 12" of water with the back of your boat and motor hanging out beyond the ramp.  In that case, you would likely want to back the trailer further into the water to get your boat wet enough to drive off... and this is where the problems would likely start.  The end of the ramp has a 12 - 16" hole (the main reason all this construction is being done in the first place).  I worry that folks may either damage their trailers/boats dropping down into that hole or get stuck trying to get back out of it.  Plain and simple, what we need is more water so we can launch while still on the concrete slabs.

The lake is rising by about 4" every day.  At this pace, I think it's going to be another 5 or 6 days before we can be confident using the ramp.  People can certainly do what they want, but personally I do not plan to try it this weeknd.  My plan is to pick-up the boat on Monday and possibly launch it on Tuesday or Wednesday.  If anyone decides to try it before then, please drop me a note and let me know how it goes so I can share it with the group.  If not before, I will try to leave another update on Monday (4/13) and then one as soon as we get more intel as to when the construction will start.

Let me know if you have questions.

Dan
